Carrefour offers free menstrual protection to students from 2 March to 31 August 2021

Many students live in a situation of menstrual insecurity.

With the current health crisis, this phenomenon has increased.

On this Monday 8 March, International Women's Rights Day, we decided to talk about an action concerning menstrual protection.

Menstrual insecurity refers to the lack of access to periodical protection for those who are poor. According to the FAGE, 33% of students feel that they need help to obtain protection.

On 23 February 2021, Frédérique Vidal, the Minister of Higher Education, announced that menstrual protection would be distributed free of charge in universities and CROUS at the start of the 2021 academic year.

To accompany this announcement and in order to fight against menstrual insecurity in France, Carrefour* has decided to introduce free menstrual protection on a national scale for students.

The initiative

From 2 March to 31 August, students will be able to obtain one pack of Carrefour tampons or sanitary towels free of charge per month, on presentation of their student card ands other terms and conditions designated by Carrefour, at the checkout.
